UK TV showing US version (again!)

Does anyone have a clue why ITV in UK would broadcast the inferior US version that was redubbed for US TV? It seems that the UK version would be more appropriate... unless ITV think they british kids watch so many US sitcoms that they can't recognise an English accent anymore.

Yeah, it doesn't make any sense. When they released the dvd it had the British voices on it. Why didn't they just show that?!?

I wondered why they had American accents, . Just watched it for the first time, and I loved it. Very faithful to the book.

Yet the old faithfull Radio Times advertised June Whitfield and Arthur Lowe as some of the voices....Very disappoited!! Im also quite sure that it wasnt only dubbed but the script was also different!

If you buy the special edition you will learn that it was broadcast first in America and then dubbed with British voices for the UK market.

Either way an enjoyable movie.

I heard the US version first, and I prefer it to the UK version. I like the voices sounding lower, I guess *shrugs*
