colour release

i think he should release both versions together on blu ray, thus giving the paying public a choice. just like a lot of the new films give the choice between normal & widescreen or edited and unedited. that way, everyone would be happy. whadya think ?

This would be like Halloween, Christmas and Valentines all at once, but I wouldn't hold your breath. Universal is either unaware that there is a fan base for this movie or simply don't care.

i wrote a highly impassioned plea to john badhams website last night in the hopes of appealing to his better nature ! probably wont make a blind bit of difference but if u dont ask, u dont get...

Although most of us understand Badham's original desire to film the movie in B&W (and I love B&W) what he's giving us now is not a B&W picture but a color-drained version of a color picture -- one that was originally gorgeous and now is not.

BTW: I'd also like the original music choice for Drac and Lucy's Carfax Abbey dinner.

I think it comes down to money on Universal's part. They would have had to spend money toning down the color for the DVD release. Even if they didn't pay for the actual change in the color, they'd have had to do a transfer etc. So, to release the color version, they'd have to do another transfer of the film which costs money.

I'm sure that what they did when it was de-colorized was a hi-def scan. So, they'll probably just use that one since it's already done.

Unfortunately.
