Are carnivores hypocritical for denouncing the animal killings?

7 animals are killed in this film. For those that know, the animals were all fed to the aboriginals. I feel any animal factory would have killings more gruesome than the portrayal of how these animals were killed. Therefore, I feel that unless one is a vegan, he/she is being somewhat hypocritical about the animal deaths.

I think it's the fact that animals were killed, not for food, but for the shock value of the movie. The natives just happen to eat them also, so luckily they weren't completely wasted.

Yes, Biggacy. The hypocrisy with people's fleeting sense of concern is real. Very real.

I don't like the idea of any living thing being killed specifically for a movie.

Yes.

I would agree with that. It also got me thinking, what about films where things like a hamburger, a pepperoni pizza, and perhaps a ham or steak dinner while the characters are eating lunch? In those cases animals were killed just to be used as a prop in a movie. Is that any better just because you don't see them getting killed? I think people like to complain so they can feel self righteous and hear themselves talk.

Yes, but from my point of view that isn't a bad thing.

A lot of people care about the animals but have this disconnect when it comes to the ones that they eat. They don't see them killed, they see a piece of meat and don't want to think about a baby cow or cute little pig that they might see on a photo and find so precious and endearing. Also, we certainly see harm done to certain animals as worse than the harm done to others, even of equal intelligence.

But to put people down for that is counterproductive. If anything, it's good that people see this and are bothered, even if they do so while eating a burger. Better than not caring at all. At least now in movie industry animals don't get harmed anymore, and it was definitely the fact that people did mind that led to that. That is a positive thing if you look at it from animal rights perspective (although it didn't harm the movie industry either.) It is good that people react like this when directly confronted with animals getting hurt.

Likewise, I also don't like when vegetarians call pescetarians hypocrites, or when vegans call vegetarians hypocrites. It's always better for people to do something than nothing at all and that shouldn't be discouraged. What's the point of calling someone a hypocrite for rescuing a dog when they still eat pork, you can push this far enough where any action ends up being hypocritical and absurd because there is always something you are leaving out. Look at the result, and it's a positive thing.
