Do you think Audrey knew about the kinky...
...subplot when she agreed to do this film?
Now put that gun down Heidi! You’re not solving anything by massacring people!

I doubt it, never seen this movie untill today, found it cheap in DVD store and because of Audrey i bought it. She does try her best and all that but it didnt help much.
The sex parts didnt even have anything to do with the story apart that it gave the inspector a target, wich could have easily been done without having to revert to cheap naked scenes. Meh, another bad buy, but oh well.

Reportedly she was unaware of that and tried to get out of this movie when she found out, but was unable to. I have no idea how reliable that account is, however.

This is the article which is mentioned in the Trivia section, which says she didn't know:

Not sure how much faith to put in this. However, the same year Caligula came out, and the original script that Gielgud and the rest of the cast signed up for was entirely rewritten and hardcore footage was spliced in, so it may not be impossible.
I can see how that would be hard to believe. Purportedly though, she signed up without reading it as a favor to Terence Young, whose own career wasn't doing very well at the time (they'd worked together before). So, misplaced trust I guess.
shareFrom what I've read, she was not aware of the kinky subplot. She had apparently read the book and was put off by all the sex scenes, but was assured by either the film's producers or by Terence Young (who was a long time friend of hers) that these scenes would be cut. They might have not planned to use the snuff film subplot but changed their minds while filming in order to add shock value.
