Remake Writer says he loves his script but worries that it's "too dark"

I was surprised to see that the script was apparently finished! I'd love to get my eyes on that ... Here's the link:

I always thought the original movie was very dark and not really a kids' movie. If they made it R I think a dark script would work and could be really good.

Dark might be good. I thought the more horrific scenes from the original were the most successful.
