Does anybody else view Apocalypse Now and Blade Runner to be "sister films"?

Both films really do have several similarities: both are pretty much film noir pieces combined with genres/settings that had not really been done before (Apocalypse Now being a film noir set during the Vietnam War and Blade Runner being a film noir in a sci-fi setting).

Both Apocalypse Now and Blade Runner are each the ultimate "slow burn" films that features the primary protagonist as a passive observer to the crazy world around them.

I never thought so but maybe it's because I saw each of them at a very different time. Good observation though. In retrospect I kind of see what you mean. I'd have to watch them both again to be able to compare for real.

Both have Ford, too.

Apocalypse Now also has multiple cuts like Blade Runner as well.

The voice over connection too.
I've always preferred Blade Runner (theatrical cut) with the voice-over.

I recently saw this for the first time and it did remind me a LOT of Blade Runner, so I'm glad I'm not that only one.
