Idiocracy

It seems very clear to me, now that I've just watched Americathon, that Mike Judge was very inspired by this film to make Idiocracy. There's quite a few things taken from this film and reworked into Idiocracy!
Anyone else notice this?

I watched this last night and I was thinking the same thing. It's a lot more "wacky" than Idiocracy but I think the theme is the similar.

It's hard not to suspect that "Idiocracy" grabbed the torch from this film and ran with it. Coincidence? Possibly, but possibly not.
