Soooo this film is OOP...when will it hit DVD...??

Americathon (1979) Needs to Come to DVD....!!!


I just got this really interesting book called: "The Stewardess Is Flying the Plane!: American Films of the 1970s" by Ron Hogan, & I came across 1 film I had never heard, & after much searching I found that it was available on VHS, but now OOP, & no DVD plans at this time!
With the recent Wall Street meltdown and increasing bailout from foreign investors, I think this movie deserves a second look!?.

But, the plot alone sound like something our country needs to do in these hard Economic Times!!! LOL!

Americathon (1979)

In the not too distant future, the United States government is virtually bankrupt and in danger of being foreclosed on by a group of Native Americans, now owners of the massive Nike Corporation. A desperate President decides to make a last-ditch effort to save the country... by raising money with a telethon!

Stars: John Ritter, Harvey Korman, Fred Willard, Chief Dan George, Meat Loaf, Jay Leno & Howard Hesseman. Narration by George Carlin.

The soundtrack features It's A Beautiful Day by The Beach Boys.

To promote the movie, in 1979 Ted Coombs roller skated across the United States and back and gained a place in the Guinness Book of World Records.
