. . . . reminds me of Bruce Jenner becoming Caitlyn Jenner.
Not in appearance (of course), but in the confused, hybridized gender identity and mass-marketing of same over television.
Monty Rushmore also brought to mind the huge success and popularity of Mrs. Doubtfire in the 1990's. That film being such a huge hit took the whole concept of cross-dressing and transvestitism out of the closet and made it more acceptable to a straight mainstream audience.
