Boring and overrated
None of the Alien movies deserve more than a 5/10, especially the original talk about booooooring

shareI don't wanna be rude because you're probably all of thirteen years old and thus have a lot of living and learning to do but you might try to experience the original in the right setting. At night. Alone. Room darkened. The mood you set for yourself engineers how well you'll enjoy it.

Your username, the name of the thread, your argument, your whole comment is simply a troll, Could you atleast try next time? Or at least give a valid reasoning behind your opinion besides one half-assed sentence.
shareDefinitely not a troll - just one of these mouth-breathing, base-cap wearing 20-30yo retards who think everyone is just waiting to hear about their opinions on everything.
A sad little existence, in the end.
See, I love talking about movies, you can learn so much about the whole art by just listening to the thoughts of others, but these days too many idiots roam these kind of boards, creating threads like this one.
I mean seriously, what's the point!?
"Muh da moveh is stoopidz and booring, duh!"
Wow, brilliant point, loved your...arguments, I never seen the movie from this perspective before, now go and kill yourself, thanks.
Fucking hate human garbage like that.
"now go and kill yourself, thanks.
Fucking hate human garbage like that."
Dude, I agreed with you whole point until there... That is a little bit too much.
Opinions... ;)
shareHmmm nope this is NOT expressing your opinion, this is simply encouraging someone to commit suicide. Thisbis really not necessary to make your point and makes you look like human garbage yourself.
shareI meant to say your comment is your opinion, hinting that I accept your point of view, but still hold my own.
shareYou can have you point of view. I actually hope you do. But don't you see at all how telling someone to kill himself is a little bit harsh? Don't know, maybe where you live they don't sensitize people so much about suicide.
I just think that if you tell someone to kill himself, it's because the said person hurt you really bad and you see no redeeming quality in him.
But well if you are comfortable with saying such things...
I don't want to sound condescending and I see your point(s), but... sometimes one shouldn't take every word so serious, especially online. Also "kys" is basically a pop-culture reference/meme by now.
I admit though, people like OP do rustle my jimmies quite easily.
What a lovely little back and forth you two are having.
At the risk of butting in assuming everyone in the world wants my opinion:
I dont think Kendrick's "now go and kill yourself, thanks." is encouraging suicide . Its a flippant / sarcastic comment , not even posted at the user. The user isnt even a member of this site, his comment was imported from imdb.
It was in the same sentence as " loved your...arguments", so obvious sarcasm not to be taken literally.
Do you get that upset if some says "Johnny's taken my parking space again - I'm going to kill him!" ?
This movie is a classic, something that anyone born after this movie was made, say 1990, does not understand. So old movies are "boring and overrated" to people like them. Heck he probably thinks "Aliens" is the same.
The movie Alien is slow-paced, compared to Sci-Fi/ Thriller movies today. But it is a timeless classic. Not every movie like this has to be packed with action, explosives, etc like a Michael Bay type movie.
I was born in 1991, and it's one of maybe 3-4 movies i'd rate 10/10.
shareNot every movie like this has to be packed with action, explosives, etc like a Michael Bay type movie
Agreed. It's also hard to appreciate ALIEN (or any film) when someone is watching it on an I-phone while riding a skate board or sitting in the back of Mommy's SUV.
You're what?....You're still collating?
1993 here. In my top 5 Sci-Fi of all times along with the second.
shareI was born in 1987 but I don't dig Alien. It kind of irks me that people generalise other people based on the period they were born, and then throw in the whole redundant 'only wanna see explosions and action in every movie. Go watch your crappy Transformers movies" or words to that effect.

shareWith these old films which have a big following but seem boring today by comparison you really need to imagine 1979 and think about what it would have been like to watch this for the first time in a cinema back then. Nothing had really been like this before and it left a lasting impression on a lot of people, including me.
shareAtmospheric and suspenseful.
Awesome and correctly rated as a classic.
That scene where Ripley is looking for the cat, while the xenomorph could be around any corner, and her crewmates are depending on her to make final preparations, so they can get the hell off the ship, lest they'll all die, is as dumb as almost anything I've seen in a Michael Bay film. I like "Alien" for Ridley Scott (the man knows how to shoot a film about as well as anyone alive). But, even he would probably concede he was making a popcorn film here -- and not something aspiring to the heights of Kurosawa or Fellini. Let's not belittle people because they find this boring. It's a monster movie. Like "Them" or "From Hell it Come." It's shot about fifteen times better than either of those films -- but it's still a monster movie.
shareSome people really love their cats.
