Erm... did you see the movie? The whole thing was that George was middleaged. He was feeling down. He missed his youth, he wished he was a young man again. And being young again, being in love again with a young lady. It was a midlife crisis. Men do go after much younger women then, off course.
It would have been rather odd if someone Bo Derek's age had played Dudley's role. Then it would make little sense, and the movie would have made no sense at all.

The funny thing is, Bo Derek was married to a man 30 years older than her. She was 19 and the guy was 49 when they married. How about that for an interesting little nugget of information?
