cliched scene origins??


hi everyone

i made a post in i need to know and i was directed here at someone's sergestion

here it is

you know the scene in comedies where the girl and the guy are at opersite parts of a field and run to each other and; A. embrace or B. accidently run past each other? oh and don't forget the cheesy music!

does anyone know where this originated?

or is this ten?

You have to go back to the 1960s, but I can't remember any specific films.

I believe it was first used in a French film, Un homme et une femme.

A running-toward-each-other scene I always think of is Ashley and Melanie when he returns from the war. There are many others, but a scene like the one in "Gone with the Wind" likely developed into the cliché seen in serious films and in parodies.
