Favorite Scenes

I just saw this movie again last night after not seeing it for years! It is a great movie. The best scenes in my opinion:

When he knocks himself in the head with the telescope peeping on his neighbor and falls down the hill. He keeps trying to get up the hill but keeps sliding back down. All the while, the phone is ringing with Sam on the line, and he can't get to it in time. Then he slams the phone down and falls in the pool.

When he comes back from the dentist with six cavities filled and attempts to drink on the pain medication. ( A combo that will definately mess you up- trust me I have first hand knowledge of this and it's NOT A GOOD IDEA!) The cops show up thinking he is an intruder (Sam called and he was speaking gibberish) and he can't communicate with them because of the teeth. LOL. Too funny.

The golf cart ride to his room at the Las Hadas Resort. The guy is zipping around corners and narrowly misses another golf cart. George has a horrible hangover. He is clutching a huge Pineapple drink while all this is happening- it's classic Blake Edwards.

When he wakes up and the Mariachi band is playing outside his window. He looks terrified as he rushes to the curtains to see what the hell is going on. He probably wonders where the hell he is, since he was quite messed up when he made the reservation for the trip. The camera zooms in on him- it's hilarious.

Each one of those scenes is classic.

Honorable mention goes to the scene in which George peeks in on Jenny's wedding ceremony, only to get stung in the left nostril.

Or his visit with the Reverend. ("Whenever Mrs. Kissell breaks wind, we beat the dog.")

I also love when he's standing in the ocean with the two guys and the ex-Marine raises his glass and booms an extra deep and entirely superfluous "SEM_PER FI!"

I'd forgotten how funny this movie is - and what an unbelievable genius Mr. Moore was.

Most of the film is very funny, but my favourite scene, besides the ones mentioned which I totally agree on, is the scene where he plays the piano at the mexican bar. And being a piano player himself you know it really was him playing it. It's a lovely scene in the film. I also love the scene where the two cops show up at his house after he had just phoned up Julie Andrews not long after coming back from the dentist lol. It was funny that. It's also a film that lets you know why you love movies so much. And also can make you feel a little sad knowing that Dudley Moore isn't around anymore and how he died from such a sad illness to have. Quite definitely Dud's best film, and one of the best of the 1970s.

My favourite was the "Broad" debate and at the end when Sam says, "It'll cost you fifty bucks and an apology." That's the funniest line in the movie.

I love this whole movie, I think it's hilarious....just watched it again today.

So many funny scenes, as people have already mentioned (him trying to talk on the phone after having 6 cavities filled) my other fave is when he's at the neighbor's orgy and he's looking into the telescope at the same time as Sam! Julie and Dudley are awesome, LOL.

I love the scene where the telescope knocks him down the hill also. It's funny and alternately heartbreaking watching him trying to get back upthat hill, knowing Samantha is on the phone and you just wanna scream when he finally picks up the phone and Sam hangs up.

When the guy on the beach carries george to the water
When George can't perform in bed with that Blonde from the bar
When George gets stung by a bee at the wedding
When George crashes into the cop car

I am surprised no one has brought up what I consider to be Bo's best acting in the entire movie (and she doesn't even say anything!). It is when George sees her in the limo on the way to her wedding, and she glances at him. That look, combined of course with her astounding beauty, is enough to start the whole chain of events where he follows the limo to the wedding and ultimately to her honeymoon.

I love the first two scenes you mentioned and the scene with the minister (Max Showalter) who sings George the song he wrote and his housekeeper, Mrs. Kissell.
"Every time Mrs. Kissell breaks wind, we beat the dog."

Sam's trying to call while he's trying to swallow his pills with a massive drink. "Hurrlooo? Sahm..."

She tries again.

George (angrily) "Herrrow! Ahhh, Op!"

Sam, horrified, hangs up.

Even when the cops show up later is funny, he's peering through the scope and is shocked to find the police there. They're frisking him and he gets ticklish while the other cop sees what's on the other end.
