Peter Childs (DS Rycott)
Was very surprised to see he died in 1989 aged just 50. Also interesting to see how many actors who starred in The Sweeney, who would also appear in Minder.

shareIt was pretty much a Euston Films informal repetory company casting list during the 1970s and 80s. They used many of the same actors over and over again in supporting roles. If Verity Lambert and her production partners liked an actor's work on one production, then that actor would join the casting list and get job offers from Euston Films years and years down the line. They were absolutely ubiquitous on Thames weekday television (the parent company of the Euston Films production arm) for the best part of twenty years.
Special Branch, The Sweeney, Minder, Out, Fox, Prospects, Jack the Ripper - etc, etc. Almost a stock company of regular Euston actors such as George Sweeney, George Sewell, Dennis Waterman, Patrick Mower, Patrick Malahide, Peter Childs, Garfield Morgan, Derrick O'Connor, Brian Croucher, Derek Martin, Norman Rodway etc... You will see these actors turning up time and time again in vintage Euston Films productions.
Norman Rodway and George Sweeney probably win the prize for the two most frequently cast supporting actors in Thames/Euston dramas from this era. Check out ITV3 weekday repeats on any day of the week and you are guaranteed to see one or more of these actors popping up.
