Nicolette Sheridan
Anyone else feel like she ruined the show?
It became all about her and that is what killed the show for me.
Plus Greg was old enough to be her grandfather.
It was gross.

She was one of the best characters on the show. Nothing mamby pamby about her, and she was a good foil for Abby. At one time or another each main character had the "all about him/her" moment. These are called arcs.
Greg and Paige were HOT together. Not gross to me.

I loved Paige and Nicollette!! She truly became one of the female leads, even though she was younger than most of the main cast. Interesting, as Paige started off the vixen, but became the female lead. When Donna Mills left, they stepped up Paige's character, but she didn't replace Abby as the resident b*tch, so they had to bring in Paige's mother to fill that role (and later Greg's sister).
shareI agree, Nicolette Sheridan was surprisingly good as Paige. She started off ok but by her 3rd year on the show, she really kicked it in! Season 10, with Paige fighting Abby for Greg, was really awesome, and Paige herself was a complex character- not quite a bitch but not quite a heroine, either. She was the perfect combination of Mack and Anne; she had a sense of wrong vs right like Mack, but was just more selective, and she was spoiled and more self-absorbed than most people, like Anne. The episode where she found out Ted Melcher killed the Japanese actor was great, because she wanted to turn him in to the police, but Greg wouldn't let her, choosing to send him to Japan to go after Abby instead. Paige usually did the right thing, unlike Abby.

Actually, moosefeathers, the scene you described with someone walking down a hospital corridor and dropping the flowers sounds like Jill, when she went to visit the old lady who had forged the letters from Ben to Valene for her. She saw Karen, Mack and Frank outside the woman's hospital room and overheard them saying she was dying and she walked away, dropping the flowers and lost in the moment, just as you described.
But a Paige moment that really sticks out for me was when Paula had a little meltdown, tired of the way Greg and Anne were treating her, and she yelled at Greg something like "your own daughter died and that didn't even bother you!" and then she saw Paige and sincerely encouraged her to forget about Greg, saying something like "men like Greg may seem like more fun, but they end up being colossally boring." During that whole scene, when Paige is watching Paula scream at Greg, you can tell that she really feels for Paula, and her expression turned sad for just a moment. I always liked that small scene, something KL was known for, I think, those small moments.
It was Paige, visiting Ann in the hospital dropping the flowers she brought for Ann when saw that Ann was not really as bad as she made herself out to be (i believe she "attempted" suicide). She was wearing a white skirt suit and her heels were clicking on the tile floors very sadly.

Moosefeathers, thanks for the correction! I'll have to check that scene out again sometime.
shareShe did not wreck the show!
shareWreck the show? Hardly. The show was very very slightly in danger of starting to become stale in season seven, and then she came along and gave it fresh life and some youthful vitality, plus a ton of new, exciting storylines.
sharePaige and Ted Melcher storyline was great!

I agree! Paige was one of the best characters on there! My 25 yr old daughters middle name is Paige because of her! She is a fabulous actress. Anyone who thinks she wrecked the show is a brain-dead no taste ass...
shareI think she saved the show and hardly Greg being old enough to be her Grandad. There can't have been more than 20 something years between them. Old enough to be her Dad yes, but not Grandfather. I always thought Paige seemed a lot older than her years. Olivia was only a few years younger than Paige yet seemed way way younger.
Couldn't stand Ted Melcher though, he wasn't believable has a villain or a lover IMO.
Found it had to believe how two of the shows most attractive female leads would be attracted to him.
What can I say, I thought Robert Desiderio (sp?) was pretty hot as Ted Melcher, though he did some really slimy things.
shareGrandfather is pushing it. Mac was her father and he and Greg were contemporaries. I won't say Paige ruined it, but I never cared much for her character. I always thought it was odd how she became a big focus of the show in the later years when most of the core characters Karen, Gary, Val, Mac, and Greg were still around.
shareNicollette HARDLY ruined the show; in fact, she improved it. Paige was a fantastic character. Self-assured and intelligent, she transformed from resident "troublemaker" to one of the show's main heroines. Her on-again, off-again romance with Greg is one of the best things about the later years.
shareShe also helped bring in a younger audience, something advertisers crave. It really would have been hard for KL to continue after the 14th season because Sheridan was on her way out the door. Besides Vanessa and Kate, everyone else on the show was well over 40-45 by then.
