Amazing acting!
I think there is some amazing acting in this show and it should get more recognition.

shareShould 'have' I mean.
Very much agreed. Pretty much everyone who was ever a main cast member did an amazing job, but especially Michele Lee, who was the heart of the series, Don Murray in the early episodes, then Kevin Dobson in the mid to later years, and how about William Devane?
shareJust watched an episode featuring Alec Baldwin as Joshua. Very good acting and quite gripping.
Lilimae's and Joshua's confrontatoin on the roof.....very chilling. and well acted...
Swing away, Merrill....Merrill, swing away...share
It was the first thing I saw Alec in and even back then I despised him. I thought he's character was boring, his performance wooden and had absolutely no chemistry with Lisa Hartman Ciji/Cathy. He almost always comes off as a pompous, arrogant ass. The dumbest thing the producers did was kill off fan favorite character Ciji Dunn and bring that turd to KL. If they hadn't killed her off there would not have been a need for Joshua Rush.

Yeah, I always felt Karen had less dimensions than some of the other characters. I think Ted Shackelford was extremely underrated as Gary. He played a convincing weak-willed man/alcoholic character.
shareDisagree with your thoughts on Michele Lee. She was excellent. Granted, she had some over the top moments (i.e. "WE HAVE TO GET MEG!"), but so did most of the actors (WE'RE RUINING LIIIIIIVES!"). Overall, Karen was my favorite character on Knots.
All of the principal actors on Knots were excellent. The only bad actor I can think of off the top of my head is Felicity Waterman.
Overall, I loved Michele Lee and Karen, but there were definitely moments where she went way over the top- the 200th episode comes to mind, where the actors improvised while at Laura's funeral, for example. The scene where she laughed during Laura's videotaped goodbye really irked me; Lee was really chewing the scenery there. But her performance in the first 3 episodes of the 3rd season is incredible. When she finds out about Sid's car wreck and takes off in her station wagon while telling Gary and Val to look over Abby and the kids just seemed so real to me, plus when Sid told her to sign for his operation and she begged him not to do it- incredible and powerful. Those scenes more than make up for the times she goes over the top.
shareYes, Karen laughing during the videotape was way OTT. This "greatest hits homage" parodies it beautifully at 4:40: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbxsyx7xib0.
Agreed, Karen's scenes around Sid's death were incredibly realistic. Even the way she reacted with the kids afterwards was realistic...and the scene at Sid's grave was great.
Michele's acting was strong throughout the series, but I think it was stronger in the early years. Maybe it was the material.
Agreed. She had her moments of crewing the scenery but didn't all the characters? Valene was not my favorite character, all the crying, just got on my nerves. I was so angry that they killed off Sid, he was one of my favorite characters in the beginning. (This was before all of the behind the scene stuff was not out there like it is now.)

shareJulie Harris as Lil May was always great. Thought the guy who played Richard was pretty good too.
