Contract Fee Driven
I think the reason they don't release the series is so sellers pay them high contract fees in order to sell it, like dvdua.com
I imagine they make a lot from everyone paying them fees.
The reported reason they stopped selling DVDs after Season 2 was because of low sales. If true, however, they should have done MOD (Made on Demand). True Knots fans know the series didn't become good until it was more serialized around seasons 4-5. The early seasons contained many self-contained episodes (one and done storylines, e.g., Sid's ex-wife, Abby romancing an old movie director for his $$, the haunted house, etc.)
Another reason given was the music rights, which seems to be a problem for other series to release their entire series. I know there was music during the 4 seasons Lisa Hartman was on (1982-1986) but don't remember a lot of music, but I guess there was.
Sales are down for DVDs across the board, but for these rare shows, there will be a market for at least 10-20 more years due to nostalgia driven sales.
