Missy Gold's acting

I was observing that Missy Gold's acting in the early episodes seems so much better than in the later episodes for some reason. She also seemed to have more lines in the beginning. Her appearances/lines got smaller as she got older. Also, her relationship with Benson changed a great deal. They were a lot closer and sweeter towards each other when she was a little girl. It's like she became a teenager and her whole personality changed.

Of course, I don't have kids myself so maybe those of you who are parents won't think this is so unusual!

Her role changed dramatically from the beginning of the series to the end. Early in the series, when of course, she was very young, her role on the show was simple: walk into the kitchen, say something cute, and walk out again. Later in the series, as she developed into a teenager, her role had expanded quite a bit: walk into the kitchen, use some kind of '80s teenage slang, and walk out again. Also, I think she was trying out for the cheerleading squad in every episode.

yeah i too liked her better in the later years of the show...she became more of a full on character and less of a device--the cute kid---although as far as cute kids go she was more then decent enough!

as for her teenage years===it was the 80's wiseass teenagers were all the rage...especially on ABC round the time Benson was airing its final year...Growing Pains and WHo's The Boss and The Wonder Years and HEad of The Class were already hits for the net a year or two before Benson got canned. It made sense that an exec would want them to showcase Missy as a sarcastic teen.

A change in personality in the teen years is quite common. Some girls continue to be sweet, others get an attitude that takes a while to loose. Blame in on puberty and hormones.

Something that bugs me watching the DVD's is how when she delivers her lines she often seems to have a small smirk on her face. I'm sure it's probably just due to her age and perhaps a great rapport with her fellow actors but it's distracting. She seemed to do a great job with serious scenes, however.

I remember being annoyed at the episode when her father wouldn't let her watch the Sound of Music but watched it himself. He should at least have taped it.
