Benson Season 2 MOD pulled - defective

For those of you looking for the Benson Season 2 release, you'll find that it's no longer listed on wbshop.com and it's now once again pre-order on Amazon. The release was pulled after initial customers found that ep 1 was missing and several episodes were out of order. As a unintended bonus, for some bizarre reason, episodes 1 & 2 of Season 3 were included as well.

There's no update as to when this will be corrected and the season put on sale again.

In truth, be happy that Sony is pulling the release. When WB put out Night Court Season 4 MOD, there were problems, including an episode with out of sync audio/video. It didn't get pulled for quite a while and a lot of people had to deal with the headache of waiting for WB to fix the release and then send their defective copies in for replacement...

OK, I received this notice from Amazon.com last night:

We now have delivery date(s) for the order you placed:
- Robert Guillaume, et al "Benson - Season 2"
- Estimated arrival date: May 07, 2012 - May 11, 2012

Think that means they'll be sending me a NON-defective version?

Sure hope so...

Sounds like it. Amazon is now listing a release date of May 1 for Season 2.

Honestly, I'm a little surprised that Sony was able to get everything corrected so quickly, especially considering how long it took WB to correct the initial Season 4 MOD of Night Court.

Then again, we are talking MOD. They don't have to worry about pressing a bunch of discs for release. They simply have to fix the original issues and then create them as ordered. Still, it wouldn't surprise me if there wasn't another delay. Announcing the release this far ahead of time suggests that they do not actually have everything fixed yet. If they did, as a MOD title, they'd be sending out fixed copies already...

Yeah, I agree - I was thinking along the same lines (that this is little quick for a 'corrected' release to be coming out / announced).

Oh well, fingers crossed. Unfortunately, I'm already at the point with this show where I'll just be happy to finally have the 'uncut' episodes on DVD. A shame, because the Season 1 release was so well-done, it made me have hope they might do the same great job on the other seasons.
