Did Murray leave during season 2? If so why did he and what hppened to the show tihout Martin Balsam?

Murray left about four or five episodes before the end of season II. Martin Balsam just didn't like playing second or third bananna on the show to Carroll O'Connor (Balsam was an Oscar winner and apparently he thought he deserved better). The second season ended with Archie buying Murray's share of the bar and the show lasted another two seasons without Balsam.

its to bad i liked the character of murray.i wish he had stuck around longer he was a good addition to the show.

Martin Balsam (a good character actor like Carrol), left because he wasn't happy with his role. The show lasted another few years without him until it was cancelled in 1983.

I have no idea. Maybe he was given a bum steer or something? Or the money they offered him was good? Why did he decide to do Death Wish 3?
