Archie's Place vs. Archie Bunker's Place
On "All in the Family," Archie's bar is called "Archie's Place." However, on this show it is "Archie Bunker's Place." Did they ever make any reference to changing the name on the show?

shareNo. In fact, if you recall the episode where Archie's old truck hit Reggie Jackson's Rolls Royce, when everyone walks out the back door to look at the truck when Archie first buys it, you can clearly see it says "Archie's Place" on the outside of the door!

No, maybe Archie decided to put his full name on the bar because he did expand it into a restaurant and wanted it to have a more classy name. Also, bars usually have one name while restaurants have two.
shareThe show was originally announced in May of 1979 as "Archie's Place". But over the summer, CBS became worried that some people wouldn't necessarily connect "Archie's Place" with "All in the Family", so the name of the show was changed before production started. Of course, this meant changing the name of the bar, but it was not addressed within the show - they took creative license and we're supposed to believe that the bar's name was Archie Bunker's Place all along.
shareArchie may have changed the window named quite a while prior to the show.
shareI am going to guess that they purposely called it "ABP" so people would know Archie Bunker was still on the air.
