Why are their names different!?!

Are the other movies direct sequels to this? I ask because in this movie, they have fictional names yet in all of the sequels their characters are named after them.

Nice Dreams
Things are tuff all over

are all sequels to Up in Smoke. Nice Dreams even brings back Sgt. Stedenko.

After Next Movie the sequels started to get worse, Nice Dreams was alright, but things are tuff all over wasn't that funny aside from a few moments.

I saw Up in Smoke before the comedy albums and if you want more stuff like the movie, and to see the inspiration for the movie. Check out the comedy albums. Hearing the characters original incarnations are interesting.

The albums are awesome..Used to listen to them as a kid, both before, and after the movies...

Pedro de Pacas and Anthony Stoner are characters from the albums. I guess they decided they could pull of being "Cheech and Chong" in the sequels.

Next Movie was funny but much more uneven than UIS. The others should have been shorts or skits, as they weren't even in the same universe as the first two, esp UIS.
