So who was the best portrayal of Lex Luthor?

Gene Hackman?
Kevin Spacey?
Jesse Eisenberg?

reply

I would choose Gene Hackman.

reply

Can't dispute with one of the greatest actors ever.

reply

In "Superman " I enjoyed his dialogues with Otis.

reply

Only because of Hackman's inability to say Nuclear. In Superman and in No Way Out he says "Nucular", and probably Crimson Tide, but it's been a while since I've seen it.

reply

It isn't even close....

Gene Hackman

reply

Hackman easily. This scene alone seals the deal:

Jesse Eisenberg. Usually the last actor to portray the character is the best because he can improve on the previous performances

reply

Jesus, do you really believe that - that Jesse Eisenberg was the best? Or are you being sarcastic?

reply

Yes, I do. You sound surprised

reply

Well, fair enough.

Yeah I'm surprised. However, so they say, different strokes......

Personally, I thought Eisenberg, by far, was the worst.

Frankly Clancy Brown. Gene Hackman while enjoyable was too different from his comic counterpart. Superman Returns just plane sucked and Luthor's plan was too similar to the first movie. Jesse Eisenburg was not intimidating like Clancy Brown's Luthor. The 90s Superman cartoon is superior to the films though I still enjoy them despite their flaws. Except Superman Returns and Superman 3.
