R.I.P. Robert Mulligan

Director Robert Mulligan died this weekend at age 83. Of course, he's better known for directing "To Kill a Mockingbird," but I still prefer "Same Time Next Year." Farewell to one of the quiet greats of a greater era in Hollywood.

It seems the 1970's was a rich decade for Mulligan's career. Summer of '42, The Other, The Nickel Ride and this film are all excellent. I think he followed this movie with Kiss Me Goodbye, but that's a most inferior flick in terms of romantic comedy.
