Have any real couples been in this?

I was just thinking... have any actual couples appeared in productions of STNT?

I know it was Ellen Burstyn and Charles Grodin on B'Way, then Ellen and Alan Alda in the film. I also read that Carol Burnett played opposite Dick Van Dyke in Conneticut, and then with Burt Reynolds at his dinner theater.

It's the amateur casting director in me, but I'd love to see William H. Macy and Felicity Huffman tackle this one.

Better yet, if you were in a production of this with your mate, please share your stories!

That's a great question. I love this film. Many years ago I had a Same Time Next Year affair but it ended after just 5 years and I haven't seen her since. But you know it all comes back when I watch this movie and always will.

after 30 years I can say yes. Although both of us are not divorced but have led separate lives. We get together about a month after Christmas.

Not at all! I greatly enjoyed a similar experience...and I can't tell you how awesome it is for two people to come together (no pun intended) after months have passed, and have it literally seem like you'd just seen each other yesterday. True love transcends the need for a monogomous, 1 on 1, relationship. True love just IS. I can't really say more than that...it just IS! Very hard concept to wrap your noodle around for most folks.

That said, if you've found it, then you know what I'm talking about. If you haven't...then, sadly, you're probably stuck with a relationship founded more on a fear of separation than anything else.

Hope Lange and Don Murray (who were married to each other in the 50's, but later divorced) starred in this play, in a revival version. Sadly it was never filmed, and I didn't get to see it, just heard about it. The pictures pop up from time to time on EBAY.

I don't know of any other married to each other actors that have done this, but right now the only 2 pooping to mind are Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson. I think they'd probably do a decent job of it.

Yes, it's hard to explain, I am in my 3rd year with this unreal situation, both of us are married from long time ago (10 years each of us, happily married¡) but it is like if we had met yesterday. I'm living in a kind of so-called nostalgia along 1 year thinking of the night we've spent together, and arround mid july the magic happens again, in fact, never is gone, is just the time that scapes....

This thread is almost a decade old now so I feel faintly embarrassed about adding to it at such a late stage but it does seem to me that the majority of posters misunderstood the OP, who was enquiring about any real life partners who played the couple on stage, not about anyone who had had similar relationships (there is a separate thread about that, to which no-one responded).

I believe that in the UK there was one real life couple who took over the roles, viz Dennis Waterman and his then wife Rula Lenska, who played George and Doris some years ago.
