Hello.
It seems pretty weird that this movie has no threads at all! So after watching "The Meetings of Anna"..I decided to open one! First of all, I want to say that the movie was pretty indulging. Anna felt so disconnected with the world was something I can really relate to.
She often has this blank expression on her face, and rarely shows any reactions at all. And, although she rarely speaks..I felt like she was the character I know the most. I really liked the overall style that Akerman utilizes. In my opinion, it certainly borrows some elements of Cinéma vérité. This movie of-course is not for everyone, and I do expect some "this movie is too slow" hate.
I just want to know other people's opinion on it? What did you feel when you were watching it? Were you engrossed in it? Was it like being in a state of dream? Also, just a remark..all of the men Anna met were all depressed characters. It felt like they were going for the pity card to get some action. Regardless, I really loved the dialogue. Akerman had this habit of allowing the character to enter a place without moving the camera..and then when she's out of sight..Image is cut, and we can see the character inside the place. It kinda goes with the static role that Anna plays. Oh, and btw Aurore Clemant is pretty hot! I definitely plan on watching this again, and adding more to this.
Until then, I'll be waiting here(probably for a year or two) to discuss this movie with someone that's seen it as well.
