I kept hearing how great Animal House and Caddyshack were, so I watched them when they were on cable. Wow, so sucky. I honestly thought that what I was seeing were student films that attempted to cheaply spoof the originals that I heard were such amazing classics.

Embarrassingly bad.

But didnt the CASTING (i.e. Belushi, Donald Sutherland, Chevy Chase, Bill Murray) suggest that these movies were made by the studios?

Kat, you would had to see these films when they were fresh and first shown in the movie theaters (while being a little bit stoned). People just had a different mindset back in the 70's. These films have aged since then.
