Been reading the book
I'm 9 chapters in and this movie was a lot closer to the book than I would have guessed. I haven't seen this movie in probably 15 20 years but as I read the book I keep having memories of the movie...
shareExcept for condensing the story, the animated film doesn't seriously diverge from the book until almost half-way through. After the rescue by the Eagles, prepare for: skipping over Beorn entirely (including leaving him out of the Battle of the Five Armies); losing the Wood-elves feasting in the forest; and, losing the entire sub-plot involving the Arkenstone.
If you're a troll, does that make your mother a trollop? (Relax--this is only a siggy!)
I finished the book and couldn't resist watching this on Netflix and I was impressed how much they were able to keep in there for such a short film...
