saw it tonight
I saw this film tonight for the first time. It was on TV when I happened to turn it on about 1/3 of the way through the movie. I really wish I could have seen the whole thing. At first I thought it was too fragmented and slow, but then I got into just letting it flow along and really enjoyed it. I thought it was very HONEST. The plot seemed a little like something in a Woody Allen movie, I mean the setting and the characters, but instead of a contrived story, they just went along, having normal things happening to them, acting and reacting pretty much the way people do in those circumstances, but we got to see Susan develop and mature a little bit. That's always interesting to me in a movie, to see a character develop depth and the ability to deal better with complexity.
It was also fun to see Bob Balaban, Christopher Guest, and Jane Alexander so young.
