Mikado performance

Does anyone know what production company (if any) was actually performing The Mikado during the climactic scene?

It was actually quite good. Would love to have seen it in it's entirety.

The opera being performed in the climactic scenes at the San Francisco Opera House is "The Mikado" by William S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan. Excerpts seen in the movie were from the light opera's first act. The production seen in the film was performed by members of the New York City Opera and was conducted by Julius Rudel. The production was allowed to shoot at the opera house for three days which was at the time right in the middle of the theater season.

Thanks.
I was a member of the Gilbert and Sullivan Players in college, and was Master Carpenter for our production of The Mikado and it will always have a special place in my heart!

I really liked it too! In some ways, this was the most "cinematic" part of the film.
