Terminally depressing and effective

This movie had so many uncomfortable moments and was quite depressing. I mean Jimmy loses the girl, his piano career and his father. On top of that he commits murder to avenge his father. Funny thing is that I kept watching (probably wondering what else could go wrong for this poor guy. As for those calling this brilliant ... I wouldn't go that far. It's well acted and an interesting dicotomy, but i think of brilliant as something that I would want to watch again and again. Not here.

Very well put. It's a very meditative film about a talented and sensitive but very doomed man no matter which path he chooses. I wouldn't call it brilliant either – that word is severely overused these days – but it's very effective. 7/10 stars from me.
