Talked to a Vietnam vet about this movie

He called this movie, as well as Platoon "pathetic". He said that the movie that most accurately depicts his experience in Vietnam is We Were Soldiers. I haven't seen this movie as of yet, but I wanna know what you guys think about this.

The original poster was trolling, and he did it well.

Haha. Considering hes long gone...yup...

OP wasn't actually trolling, though. The Deer Hunter and Apocalypse Now were written by Hollywood Liberals who never got anywhere near Vietnam and probably protested against the war and held Communist sympathies. Of course their movies would be biased against America and have no actual reflection on the experience of the average US soldier.

My late father-in-law also served in Vietnam and he said the exact same thing. "We Were Soldiers" shows the real deal, while all the angsty Liberal films were what he called "depraved fantasies" that demonized America and its mission against Communism in Vietnam.
