Goodness gracious, the zooming camera...
...circa the '70s is pretty awful. Unfortunately, that's the one thing that really dates this movie. However, Angela Lansbury's awesome performance never gets old. :)

Well, some like the use of zooms, some don't. I'm a fan.
shareI know what you mean, particularly when they zoomed out. The camera got pretty choppy on some of them.

That's one of my favorite things in any film no matter which date it was released on.
shareI don't see where that makes it a '70s thing, or dates the film...Scorcese has used zooms with great skill for 40 years. It never gets old. It a camera technique, not a "70s trick.
Takes two to tumble it takes two to tango
Speak up don't mumble when you're in the combo
I know exactly what you mean, this is a very distinct use of zooming, very 70s indeed. It's very abrupt, fast and sometimes uncalled for - a very non-subtle way to add tension to a dramatic scene (for example, the scene with Birkin and Ustinov, where she tells him that if she had stayed outside, she would have witnessed the killer etc.)
But I don't find it annoying at all, in fact I love it!
