Which one is worth watching: original or remake?

I have been wanting to watch one of them, not both, so I would like to know which one is better. No spoilers please!

The original one is a must see for fans of the genre but it's the weakest of the 4 main sequence of Romero dead movies. The remake is a tighter film in tone and horror.

I'd recommend both. The original is a classic and the remake is one of the by far more superior horror remakes available.

The original was, in my opinion the best horror film ever made.

The remake was a very good effort and is definitely worth watching.

If you can watch the ultimate edition or failing that the directors cut of the original.

But take the time to watch both, you will NOT be disappointed...

The original is better and it's not even close..

The opening scenes are a perfect example of why the OG is better... it's all about buildup, confusion and tension.. and then once we get to the task force raid on the projects.. You don't expect what you're in for..I remember seeing this in Jr High and being shocked/traumatized by that whole raid scene...

While the remake is more about showing the one main character for a minute... and not building her up much more after that....

The Remake is all flash and style.. it's an enjoyable movie but it's just a bunch of cheap scares, action styled shootouts and slow-mo explosions.... the characters arn't AT ALL likeable or interesting other than the security guard guy.. who gets to redeem himself for a small moment...

The original of course. The commentary is still applicable to today's standards with Americans and Black Friday.

Dawn of the Dead (78) is the best horror film ever.

I think both are worth watching and really good, but as to which one I prefer, thats easy: The 78 original. No question.

What's wrong with watching both of them?

I am a little biased here. Saw the original on its initial release (I think it may have may been 1980 before it was released in the UK). I was 13 and it just blew me away. Romero's version gets my vote every time.

However, there is no reason not to watch both. The remake is a fine movie in its own rite and definitely one of the better remakes.

You can't palm off a second-rater on me. You gotta remember I was in the pink!
