You know what, I like the blue makeup effect on the zombies

Just wanted to get my opinion in. Great film 10/10.

They're certainly not bad, but once you see what the makeup artists on the film Zombie were able to do with their zombie designs just one year later, the blue zombies leave a lot to be desired.

I liked the effects in the original black and white night of the living dead much better. This movie seemed like a downgrade compared ot that.

I liked it to, it gave the movie a distinctive "comic book" effect, which tied into the satire.

~ That's much too vulgar a display of power, Karras.

I'll second that. I used to think they looked really dopey and silly looking, but I've since come round to it. And I'll go one further: for the most part, I actually find the zombies in this film to be genuinely quite creepy. It's weird, as a kid I found them to be terrifying, as a teen I found them to be silly and shoddy looking, and now as a young adult I find them to be quite creepy and unsettling. I think the look works great in conjunction with that weird gargoyle-like grunt that Romero gave them. It just works for me. I think the temptation to have zombies looking overly decayed and damaged (ala Day of the Dead and The Walking Dead) overall it works against the cinematic and thematic impact of the zombie. The otherwise normal look of the blue zombies actually serves to reinforce the mythology and horror behind the very concept itself: that they used to be just like us.
