Did this film get shot as a serious horror film or both horror and comedy, taking itself not serious?
I found most parts funny rather than scary and wondered that was director's intention or not?

Also does anyone find this film scary? I thought it was thrilling at best.

Romero wanted tongue in cheek humour, especially the last quarter ... Hence pie fight.

The bit I find really scary is the opening 15-20 mins. The tv studio, swat raid and docks scenes are a terrifying example of the thin veneer of civilization quickly shattering. That's more frightening than grey make up.
