reasons why this movie is (still) great

-ken foree and scott reiniger. great characters, perfect casting. esp reiniger
simply steals the show imo.

-the still very unique and interesting story. all dead come to life again to hunt the living, with no explanation given. tiny group of people try to survive
in a shopping mall!

-the legendary music by GOBLIN.

-the dead in the basement having DINNER before they get interrupted by our swat heroes.

-the approaching zombie while roger fuels the heli, decapitating himself LOL!

-shaky flyboyzombie. and when peter says to fran:
"its stephen. they´re coming up." *GULP*

-the returning will to live from our hero in the very end when he decides to shoot the dead MFs in the head instead of himself.

-that depressing room where peter waits for roger to die. the moment dead roger "wakes up" again...

-that short scene with stephen and fran lying in bed. how the camera slowly pans away from a totally frustrated and unhappy looking stephen. maybe even the strongest picture in the whole movie, dammit. depressing deluxe.

am i wrong/ did i miss something?

All great points but also

When They've been in the mall for months now and Franny turns off the tv after there hasn't been a broadcast for some time and Stephen walks over fustrated and turns the static signal back on

When Roger is hot wiring the truck but doesn't see the zombies coming upon him and Flyboy is hovering over Peter trying to warn him

That moment when they've killed all the zombies in the mall and realize it's all their's now and Peter says his "when there's no more room in hell, the dead will walk the earth"

Roger sliding down the middle of the escalator

When the foursome is ready to start fighting all the zombies in the mall and they are dressed head to toe in weaponry

Peter "you game?" Roger "I'm out of lighter fluid"

Gaylen Ross' tits

"Attention all shoppers, if you have a sweet tooth, we have a treat for you............"

Tom Savini

Rednecks taking care of business

Chaos in the newsroom in the beginning

Woolley

And that helicopter with low fuel at dawn flying to who knows where at the end

I gotta at the buddhit or whatever thwt one zombie was coming to get Fran in their original hideout. That's still the most tense moment for me in the movie. That and when Flyboy is trying to shoot that zombie and the bullets keep ricocheting. So many great parts. Remake was decent, but like MC Hammer says "Ya can't touch this!"

One of my favorite moments is when Peter is at the fueling station. He jumps for a second, notices its wind blowing cups off the counter and breaths a sigh of relief then turns around and there's a zombie with the face half gone slowly walking in the doorway. That freaked me out the first time I saw it and is expertly set up by Romero. But really this whole movie is one big great moment. I love nearly every scene. For me, it's one of just a few horror films that gets better and better the more you watch it and never fails to entertain.
