The theatrical release of this 1978 film clocks in at 186 minutes; while the Fox Lorber DVD release only clocks in at 177 minutes. There's a missing 9-minute scene on the DVD. Any body know what scene was cut in the DVD?

shareIf you talk about a region-2 dvd, it's about the PAL system speed: 25 frames per second, instead of the theatrical 24 frames per second. Every film on European television and on European video and dvd's are slightly speeded up. For a 3-hours movie, that would make a difference of about... 9 or 10 minutes.
"It took more than 20 years for nazi's in Hollywood to speak German - sometimes."
This is almost certainly the answer.
The 9 minute difference is 4% of 186 minutes, and the effect of PAL speedup is 4% (1 frame in 25 = 4%).
