Is Jennifer a virgin?

Jennifer is a gold digger, of course. But it was always made clear that she never slept with the older men she dated.

But did she sleep with anyone? I'm inclined to think she didn't.

At the end of the episode "A Date with Jennifer", Les tells Herb about his date. Les states that Herb always bet that Jennifer had a round bed. Les then proclaims, "It's rectangular, like everyone else's" and exits the scene leaving Herb in shock while the credits roll.

Bailey, on the other hand, spent the night at Johnny's place...

reply

I suspect Les just took a peek. Or even pretended to have seen it, to annoy Herb.

Jennifer having sex with Les would fall into the category of "pity sex", and I don't think she'd do that for anyone. Not to mention the fact that sex with co-workers, for any reason, is not a good idea.

reply

Les just says that to torment Herb. Jennifer even said to Bailey that Les never even made it to her apartment, that his legs gave out on the stairs. Although he took a raincheck.

Jennifer is no virgin. Remember her affair with the obnoxious "Steel"?

Bailey doesn't spend the night at Johnny's, but Johnny spends a few nights at Bailey's. Johnny only slept at Bailey's apartment because his apartment was overrun with lizards.  Nothing happens of course. That episode was just to show about "rumors" can start.

Here's the episode:

I don't think the producers would ever have had anything romantic happen between any characters because it would change the whole dynamic of the show.

reply

Good points. I forgot about the stairs.

I don't remember any implication that Jennifer "made it" with Steel. He was too much of a jerk.

reply

Yes, I couldn't stand Steel either. He was so obviously a jerk. That's why I assumed her attraction to him was purely physical.

reply

How "pure" is "purely"?

Probably not too pure haha 

Jennifer wasn't a gold digger. She never asked the men for money or to buy her stuff they gave her
Gifts. She liked the company of older men. They
Did say she was the highest paid employee at the station.

Even above the station manager? Pretty good for a receptionist who only answered calls.

Her offical job was receptionist, but in reality her most important job was being the only person at the station who the Big Guy trusted. He consulted her on decisions, she kept away the visitors he didn't want to deal with, and kept him informed about what was going on at the station. I wouldn't be surprised if he had a similar relationship with the receptionist before her.

In one episode Mama Carlson brought up Jennifer's high salary with him. Although she owned the station, Jennifer's salary was apparently his decision.

In the two-part "An Explosive Affair" (the "phone cops" episode), Carlson's former receptionist Joyce Armor, played by Rosemary Forsyth, returns as an account executive for a rep firm. It is obvious that Joyce was very much like Jennifer in that she took care of pesky salesmen, etc. for him. It is also very obvious that there was a strong attraction between the two.

Remember when Johnny's daughter visits? Johnny asks Jennifer what she was doing when she was a teenager and she cagily replies, "Some things." I think Jennifer was hinting that she'd lost her cherry back about then.

Marriage is between one man and one woman, to the exclusion of all others.

Something Jennifer says in the " Steel" episode troubles me. She tells Mr Carlson one of the reasons she likes older men is they " tire easier" Jennifer doesnt like sex. Ive built a little back story. For Jennifer in my.mind. something bad happened in her past (molested by a relative maybe?) and because of this she has a fear of sex and dates old guys who arent threatening

reply

Jennifer likes to live well. She dates older men because they are not a complication and they give her lots of nice things.
However, when it comes to love and sex -- she will go younger. RE: Steel. Remember how she greeted him in that low-cut pink nightgown. Think about it.

reply

Pretty much how I saw it, too, but with a minor qualification. I think what she really likes is dating men who have wealth and power...and that typically means older ones. They aren't threatening (she even dated a dude in a wheelchair!), but can take her to exotic places and buy her nice stuff. And in one episode (the immigration one), Carlson asked her to call one of her "friends" to help, and she asked "Local, State or Federal" implying that she has quite the network of powerful men to pick from.

Whores will have their trinkets.
