Missing from the lineup
I had been catching this show on AntennaTV but it doesn't seem to be on their schedule anymore. Am I just missing it?
I can only conclude I'm paying off karma at a vastly accelerated rate.

When they switched up some of their programming at the beginning of April they added One Day at a Time and The Jeffersons and dropped WKRP and the weekday airings of Too Close For Comfort. They still air TCfComfort on Saturday evenings for an hour, but not the 1 hour late night weekday airings anymore.
The also moved the Saturday and Sunday airings of Evening Shade from 8 & 8:30 pm to 11 & 11:30 pm. The 11 to midnight block was where they had been airing WKRP.

So it's just a rotational thing then? That means it will be back in their lineup in a few months?

Antenna TV changes up their lineup all the time, but shows usually are returned to the lineup eventually.
The new DVD releases of the first two seasons can be bought for about $15 dollars each right now and season 3 is set to be released in July.
If you do buy the show on DVD make sure to get the 2015 release of season 1 and not the 2007 release because a lot of the music was changed on the 2007 release and some scenes were also edited out of each episode.
The new releases have most of the original music intact.

Serious thanks for the advice! I heard they changed the music on one of the DVD releases which is why I never bought it. Now, thanks to you, I know which one is changed and which is original. I'll be looking for the new edition.

Yes, these are the new Shout! Factory releases. They released the entire series late last year, but are now releasing the individual seasons also. The complete series is still going for about $86 dollars, which comes to about $21.50 a season. They just released seasons 1 & 2 last month and they're going for $14.99 each, but there is still at least a 3 month wait on season 3 and season 4 hasn't gotten a definitive release date yet.
I guess if you wanted to get the whole series all at once the Complete series is the best way to go since it's already released. It will cost a few dollars more per season, but there will be no waiting on the next two seasons to be released.
I've been waiting for 8 years anyway since the butchered 2007 release, which I did buy back then, so I just waited for the individual seasons and bought seasons 1 & 2 as individual sets when they were recently released.

I think I'll wait, then, for the complete Shout Factory set. It really annoys me when MeTV, AntennaTV or any of the other retro-tv channels carve up classic episodes just to fit in more messages about mesothelioma or LifeAlert or whatever. I'm not against anyone making money but it seems like the ratio of content to commercials is really lopsided.

If you want the Shout Factory! Complete series set it has already been released. It was released late October of last year. This complete series set has the original music just like the new individual sets that are now being released by Shout Factory!.

The original 2007 release with the music substitutions and edited scenes was just the first season then they never released any more seasons after that.

Just a little further information to help you distinguish between the two different releases. The release from 2015 is distributed by Shout Factory. They have been releasing some series that the major distributors have had a hard time because of, they say, an inordinate inability to acquire the rights to the original music. It seems that Shout was able to get the music just fine, at least to the count of 80% to 85% of it. We have been hearing from 20th Century Fox on "WKRP in Cincinnati" and Warner on "Murphy Brown" that they could not do the series because of the cost of the music rights. What I really think is the problem was that people were not willing to spend the $40-$50 that these companies were asking per season, and the companies were not willing to lower their prices at all when the sales showed low levels at that cost, as that would require them to settle for something less than the 6000% profit they were trying to get. This becomes obvious when we realize that Shout Factory has now released many series that were heretofore considered unsaleable by their original distribution companies. Maybe we could all contact Shout about trying to get Murphy Brown from Warner as well, since they did not seem to have any really insurmountable difficulties in producing a DVD with the original music for this series. I believe that Shout was also the company that was responsible for distributing "Designing Women" when Sony said they couldn't afford the production costs considering the cost of music licensing and other licenses they needed. Sorry if this has turned into a bit of a rant. My main point in writing this was to tell you that you are looking for the Season 1 that was released by Shout Factory. Happy watching.

Thanks for the background info, Sam. Maybe ShoutFactory has better lawyers for getting those music rights. But then how do they pay for them with a less than 6,000% profit margin?

I am aware that the particular profit margin I listed is most likely hyperbole, but it was funny hyperbole, was it not? If you can't have fun with the flimsy excuses to be found in the various arenas of the entertainment industry, then you just aren't trying hard enough. Oh, by the way, the bit about your karma, remember that it isn't the principal, it is the interest that will kill you, or even the lack thereof. Just a skewed thought from a skewed mind. As for the info on Shout, you are more than welcome.

It's hard to get across that I "got it" in text but, yes, I thought 6,000% was probably made up. I thought it was cute but then I thought I was being cute too.
Speaking of cute, I never thought about my sig line like that so tell me, who sets the APR for karma? :)

I felt you were being cute as well, and doing so quite wonderfully and deliciously. I just felt a need to match your cute with some cute of my own. As for the karmic APR, that is just another one of the wonderful things the universe has decided to keep a mystery from us. Of course you could always have a Velma moment and try to solve it, but you would probably go through your supply of Scooby snacks in the process. Here's hoping your day is as great as you wish it to be.

lol, thanks, Sam. I don't often get compliments on my internet demeanor. I'm not online enough to get a lot of practice at it. Good to know I'm "wonderful and delicious." I feel a little like a scooby snack now.
I can only conclude I'm paying off karma at a vastly accelerated rate.
Good for you. You should treat yourself at least once a day. Have a Scooby snack. Have six. It works for Scooby and Shaggy, it should work for you. Have a great day.

I'm sorry. Did I say "a little like?" I meant "like a little."

You can watch quite a few WKRP episodes (with the original music) here:

Thanks! So, is that your blog?

I bought the complete series DVD set recently for about $62. I think it was worth it! I loved this show, as it aired when I was in middle school and my early years of high school.
I'd be very happy to be myself if I could remember who I am. Who am I?
When I was working at Walmart back in 2007, I bought the season 1 DVD when it came out. But I waited patiently for the whole series to come out on DVD as a box set and got it all from Amazon.com a few weeks ago, and I just finished watching the last episode. I probably watched at least 3 episodes a day once I got that box set. I'm watching the reunion show on the extras disc now. Loni Anderson is 71 years old now, and I don't know how old she was when this was filmed, but she looks great for her age!
I'd be very happy to be myself if I could remember who I am. Who am I?
Loni Anderson just turned 71 yesterday (August 05th), she would have been 33 when this premiered in September of '78. It's hard to believe this show premiered 38 years ago next month. I can still remember when it first premiered, I was only 11 1/2 years old.
I don't know what they have to say. It makes no difference anyway. Whatever it is, I'm against it.
