When I watched Prisoner in the late '80s/early '90s, it was when she was acting top dog, in place of Bea. She wasn't exactly a looker, but she was sexy and very tough in her own way and not a woman you'd want to mess with. I remember her having an affair with prison officer Steve Faulkner, especially one scene where she rips her white shirt open, to impress him.

I liked Sandy Edwards, she was in the first episode I ever watched and I was a bit disappointed she was killed by the psycho guard.

Sandy Edwards was supposedly killed by Kate Peterson, what we are lead to believe is that Dr Kate overpowered Sandy and dumped her into the bin, which was then emptied into the garbage van and then crushed. However, no body was ever found.
This is one of the mysteries of Prisoner. The other 2 I can think of off-hand are:-

Sandy was a very popular character when she arrived. She is the only top dog to replace Bea Smith and experience rising ratings. I too thought she was sexy and think Samantha Greenway could pass for her sister. Her exit from the show was left a mystery due to the actress playing her getting pregnant. The producers left it open for her to return. No body or evidence was ever found in the garbage truck, so I believe she told Kate to help her escape in exchange for her life.Would have been great to see her one last time on Steve Faulkner's final episode. Show her waiting for him on his boat with their child in her arms.

Yeah i found her really sexy especially in that scene u mention. Shes not the prettiest but shes got that something about her i found really attractive, Paddy Lawson was another i fancied similar to her. =]
