Tonight is 747

747 airs tonight on MeTv and it's one of my favorite episodes. I love it because there is a lot of suspense throughout the episode, but I was always scared of this one because of David's transformation while he is flying the plane. Remember, I was 6 when I first saw this on CBS in 1978. It's very vivid in my mind, the makeup work was good but pretty scary too. I'll see how I do tonight after I watch it now tonight with my kids……..Cheers !!!!!!!!!

First the Hulk knows how to get to 1008 Park Avenue, now he knows how to land a jumbo jet!

Brilliant!

Meanwhile, are the 747 shots models, or did they actually fly a 747 through the mountains for this episode?

Okay, thanks for bringing that up.

I was originally going to mention that as well but forgot.

Same question.

Models or actual 747 flying through the mountains for the movie?

As for the Airplane movies, it goes without saying that those were obviously models.

Airport 1975 (1974)

The 747 used in the film cost $30,000 per day to rent from American Airlines. All exterior shots of the aircraft (and one interior shot of Charlton Heston at the controls) were completed in two days (landing shots in Salt Lake City, aerial shots over the Wasatch mountain range in Utah, evening and early morning flight shots, and a stunt shot involving engine #1 ramming into an outbuilding). The evening taxi and takeoff shots were filmed as the plane, with the re-badged "Columbia Airlines" logo on the fuselage, was being delivered to Salt Lake City for the two days of filming.

My favorite parts of the episode are when that guy sees the Hulk and slams the door shut on him two times, and the Hulk just looks at him and goes back down the stairs.

And, obviously, the Hulk steering, landing, and braking the plane.

Does the Hulk realize he's inside a moving object and that he's controlling it?

I was wondering if anyone would make the connection between The Courtship of Eddie's Father and this episode. The boy that played Kevin in this episode played Bill Bixby's son, Eddie, in the Courtship of Eddie's Father.

I knew that, when I was a little boy, my father told me that b/c he used to watch that show. He actually watched The Hulk with me as a child b/c he liked Bill Bixby from Courtship. I grew to love Bill Bixby myself, nobody, and I mean nobody could play David Banner quite like him………which is why he was so great !!!!

can u imagine if McGee was on this one be trying get glimpse of banner on the airplane somehow

Now you need a photo identification to fly on a commercial airplane. I don't think the show ever addressed what David used for i.d.. It wasn't a big deal. False identifications were much easier to create back then ... from what I have heard.

I hate to fly. It is something that could turn me into The Hulk. I could imagine a phony a-hole stewardess ordering The Hulk to return to his seat then trying to appease him with a half a peanut shell and a sip of soda.
