Did Mcgee ever finally catch up with David??

It's been a while, trying to remember, did McGee finally ever catch up with David??

reply

No. A few close calls, but he never did.

that one thing I got mad at about the show being cancelled out of the blue like that I always waited for that but never happend

And when the 3 tv-movies reunion happened. McGee didn't appeared it all in "the Trial of the Incredible Hulk and "Death of the Incredible Hulk". He should had appeared in Death of TIH felling sorry when he saw David dying at the end.

reply

And probably would have, but IRL the actor who played him had a stroke and health issues which prevented him from appearing in the subsequent films. I suppose it's possible they could have cast another actor to play McGee but may have had their reasons for deciding not to do so. But it is a glaring omission to have the character, who was an integral part of the series from the very beginning, not even be referenced by any mention in the finale.

reply

No. That was what most fans were hoping for...to a point, at least. Personally, I think first, he should have found a cure. Then, he should have gone to McGee and made peace with him, explaining everything-the radiation experiment, etc., and that he was the Hulk all along, but he finally cured it.

But, the show was canceled abruptly due to production costs being deemed too high by the CBS brass at the time...pretty much without warning to the producers and cast mid-way through season 5.

If Jack Colvin was too sick to appear in the last film, it would have been nice if there was a quick scene of David reading a headline of the National Register referring to the death of Jack McGee, and making some comment about it to himself.

reply

I guess ashepiro has not heard of the 3 sequel films. Not to embarrass you but if he had, why would McGee be trying to get his job back by phone and reminding his old boss "I chased him for nearly 4 years".

reply

That would have been cool! And, knowing the good samaritan David was, he would have gone to the funeral. Of course, the awkward, loaded question he would face would be, "How did you know Jack?" *LOL*

reply

then he proably say he is a ol friend or something, imagine if he woke up at the funeral and saw david at the funeral lol

reply

I think for so many fans of the telly series that the way it was axed with no proper conclusion and no final meeting with banner and mcgee is kinda sad in a way !

And i agree with comments about the telly films that followed that even tho jack colvin was not in the best of health to appear in the final film that he should have been given a mention somehow !

Missed opportunities all round im afraid :(

Yes is the actual answer to your question. In the episode Broken Image from season 3 there is a scene where Jack Mcgee approaches David's apartment door to knock and he OPENS IT! A close up of Mcgee's shocked face is followed by him uttering "My GOD, Banner….you're alive" One of the craziest moments in the series but check it out on Netflix to see how David get's out of the situation.

reply

my favorite scene it should been saved for final episode just my opinion what if he hulked out right then n there.

reply

Considering I rewatched that scene about 10 times when I initially viewed it I suppose it's my favorite too. The reaction and superb acting by both actors for that scene is absolutely flawless and is everything you would expect when the two finally crossed paths. If he had hulked out there though the gig would be up for Banner…and the show would have taken a very different path with McGee knowing the full truth. Interesting idea when you think about it.

As everyone is saying, there were quite a few close calls. Another good episode was "Mystery Man" from season 2. I don't want to spoil the whole plot for you if you haven't seen it. But let's just say McGee and Banner survive a plane crash together.

reply

Yeah, finally saw "Mystery Man"...

McGee was a putz. He couldn't find a bowling ball in a shot glass. It is amazing that his employer continued to pay him to travel around the country looking in vain for a giant green man.

reply

It would have been awesome if David beat up McGee. I would have been the only fight David ever won.

reply

The ep Broken Image was really good, he knocks on the door and David answers, they come face to face, but David says he's Mike Cassidy, his twin that looks exactly like him.
