shareYou might have missed the beginning of that episode. The local sheriff who took David to jail had a conversation with him. The sheriff said that David being sent to jail for 60 days "off the books" or something to that effect. He said he knew that David was on the run and being fingerprinted would expose his true identity. Law enforcement was running some kind of scam. Poor men were being incarcerated on trumped up charges then used as labor for local farmers.
