Holocaust Original Release

Can anyone give me the facts?

I have the 3-Vol set of the movie Holocaust released through Worldvision.

I know of other releases, like Good Time, and also know that this movie is also available as a 2-vol set and a single volume set.

I am only interested in the 3-Vol set.

I say Worldvision is the original release and a friend who also has this 3-Vol set says that Republic is the original release.

He says that Republic is because that is what it says on his 3-Vol tape set and I say it is Worldvision because that is what it says on my set.

Anyone know the answer?

I know that the WorldVision video set is on three videos with the 4 original episodes edited into three parts
The four part titles i noticed are titled below

1 - The Gathering Darkness
2 - The Road to Babi Yar
3 - The Final Solution
4 - The Saving Remnant

I dont know if they were the full versions of the series that were originally aired

I don't think the World Vision release is the entire show. The TV showing was 475 minutes (7 Hrs, 55 mins) and the 3-Vol World Vision set is approx 420 minutes (7 Hrs.) although it says 7 1/2 hours on the box. So, it looks like about 55 minutes have been cut out of the World Vision release. I don't have the other releases so I can only assume they are also less than the original TV showing. But this is typical of movies made for TV then later released. For example, I have the original recording of the TV showing of 'Escape From Sobidor' which was approx 2 Hrs 40 mins but all of the released versions I have seen are no longer than 120 minutes.

I have not seen the 3-Vol box set that my friends has but he says it has the same identical cover design as my set except where mine says World Vision on the box and the tapes his says Republic. I did a research on World Vision and found an article on their release of Holocaust but I have yet to find any information on Republic's release.

My set was purchased brand new at a local retail video store back in the early 90's.
