Hello, does anyone know when this was first Broadcast in Britain, and the channel?

I watched it on tv in Britain when it was first shown,I don't know which channel but I saw it when I was still at school and I left school in the summer of 1979.
It was very popular at the time and interested people in the history which was not at that time covered in school history.
