How that young actress was so complete as an actress this early in her career is a puzzle to me. She was so raw, so full, so open in every scene - she made the other actors, particularly James Wood, look just that - Wooden. Her face is truly built for the camera - everything is there, in her face, right to the camera.

Most other great performers, usually in there early work you can see the raw talent still developing - Meryl has been PERFECT since day 1.

Great great great actress.

Totally agree... She was stunning; she said that this was also a very harrowing experience for her as her boyfriend (John Cazale) was dying back home, and she felt miserable...

I don't understand it either.This lady has NEVER(In my opinion)given a bad performance.Meryl Streep is either outstanding or real good.It's amazing how great an actress she is.
