watching it again,still impressed.

I recall this series and ROOTS being watched my millions of people in Britain.
This drama and the earlier genocide episode of THE WORLD AT WAR informed a lot of people about what we now all call the Holocaust.

But can we still appreciate a drama that is nearly 40 years old?

Watching the dvd I have to say yes.

I was 18 when I last saw this, since then I have studied history at degree level and watched a lot of stuff on tv about the holocaust.

It is not perfect, even in the 1970s people said it should have been more brutal but if it was too tough it would have not been watched?

Making the story the story of 2 families was clever,it helps us reduce the story to a level we can understand.

I saw it recently and was still quite impressed.

I've just watched it again - start to end, back to back episodes. Still fantastic. The coldness and detachment of Moriarty's performance was chilling although the whole cast was excellent.

Time flies like the wind - and fruit flies like bananas!
