Is there going to be a new version of this show?
My mom is a big fan of the show. She heard that there is going to be a new version of this show. Is that true?

ABC did a new version of "Fantasy Island" some years back...I think around 1999 or so. It starred Malcolm McDowell in the lead role, and it was quite a bit different from the original. I think McDowell's a great actor, but the show ultimately wasn't as good as its predecessor and it was cancelled fairly quickly.
There is, however, a new film version in the works. Supposedly it's going to star Eddie Murphy. I think it's safe to say they're going for laughs on that one, probably akin to the recent big screen remakes of "Starsky and Hutch," "Dukes of Hazzard," etc.

Gotta agree with you there, Jason. :)
Incidentally, this rumor that Eddie Murphy is going to be in a movie version of FI has been around for several years now. I'm not convinced it's ever actualy going to happen, and quite honestly, I hope it doesn't -- not if it's going to ger the crummy-comedy treatment that some other TV-to-film projects have received. Anyway, nobody but Ricardo Montalbán could ever play Mr. Roarke...and who the heck would be Tattoo??
