What does 'Da plane, da plane' mean?!

It is just the little tatoo yelling that he sees the plane is comming. Everyone is supposed to run out to where the airplane lands to greet the guests. It is how he gets everyones attention.

It is something that would never happen now days because some panty waist might get their feelings hurt...I loved it.....Making fun of his accent by not saying "The Plane The Plane"

Tattoo was French, so when he spots the plane with the fantasy guests on it, he's telling Mr. Rourke that the guests are coming in, by saying "The plane, the plane", whilst ringing the bell.

I just watch, "The Devil at 4 O'Clock" with Spencer Tracy, Frank Sinatra. In the opening, a plane is flying to Tahiti when it has to put down on a small French island to drop off a passenger off. As the plane is approaching, a diminutive native rushes in to his supervisor and announces, "De plane. De Plane" When I saw that I wondered if it was just a coincidence or whether it was lifted for "Fantasy Island".

When I see Tattoo on this show, I can't help thinking of the character he played, Nick Nack, in the James Bond movie The Man with the Golden Gun (1974), who was a similar character. Think: Tatoo's evil twin. That movie came out in 1974, and Fantasy Island started in 1977, and it seems like that can hardly have been a coincidence.

He does sound like he's doing a character voice, but that's exactly the way he sounded in real life.
